...on
Tuesday, February 2, 31 students from grades 3-5, 22 from the jr. high,
27 parents, 18 teachers, and 5 alumni represented our school by working
at the Feed My Starving Children warehouse? Their two hour shift resulted
in packing 75 boxes of food containing 16,200 meals. That will feed
45 Haitian children one meal a day for one year.
In addition a $400 donation was made by our Spanish Club representing proceeds
from their nacho sale. That money will feed an additional 7 children
for one year.

Attn:
8th Grade Parents - On Wednesday, February 10, all eighth grade parents
are invited to an information meeting with Mr. Glowaty, Mrs. McDonagh,
and Mrs. Skroch. The agenda will focus on the many upcoming activities
that are germane to the graduating class. Beginning at 9:30, we will
discuss such things as May Crowning, Ribbons & Pins, the Graduation
Dinner, the Recognition Assembly, the Class Video, Confirmation, Service
Hours, Autograph books, the DAR speech, the Mabel Grimes and Knights
of Columbus Scholarships, the Class Trip, and much, much more.
We will
gather in Rm. L24 of the Ministry Center. First time parents of an
eighth grader will find the session particularly helpful. Should
anyone be unable to be present, we will put a special calendar on our website.
106
families responded to our survey regarding the dates for next December’s
Christmas vacation. The results found that 54% expressed a preference
for an 11:15 dismissal on Wednesday, December 22. 30% favored adhering
to D. 203’s schedule of starting the break on Thursday, December 23.
Only 16% wished for more time off before Christmas than after.
The first
draft of the complete 2010-11 calendar, during which the Christmas vacation
will run from 11:15 on December 22 and with classes resuming on January
10, will be submitted to the School Board at their February 23 meeting.

Blessings
- What do families buy every week? Probably everyone’s answer to
that would be groceries. All families have that in common.
Where do families shop for groceries? Jewel? Yes. Dominick’s?
Yes. Meier? Casey’s, Whole Foods? Yes. Yes. And Yes.
Some families have one preferred grocery store, but many find themselves
liking meats from Casey’s, produce from Whole Foods, and lunch box items
at Jewel or Dominick’s.
What’s
wonderful about Blessings
is that you can find all of those grocers on the order form. Groceries
are a pretty predictable expense each week. So you can order your
grocery store cards from Blessings
on Monday, get them on Thursday, and “wala”, you’ve earned anywhere from
3 to 5% back.
The
average family spends about $200/week on groceries (personally I think
that’s on the low side). If you used Blessings
cards
year-round to buy your groceries, you’d earn more than $400 back, with
50% of that benefiting the school and the other 50% benefiting your family
(e.g., as tuition credit). It’s both easy and wise to useBlessings
s.
***REMEMBER to
place your order by 10AM Monday’s. Please

information

– Box Tops and Campbell Labels Thank You
DID YOU KNOW? …Last
year, the Box Tops and Campbell Soup Labels Service Committee earned over
$2,100 for the Home and School Association! A huge thank you is due
to Cindy Rafferty. Cindy collects the labels and box tops from a
box in the back of church and the school buildings. She follows guidelines
set by the companies to earn extra points by attending seminars and turning
the information in by certain dates. Cindy and her team of students
work together adhering the labels to individual papers before sending them
to the company.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
Simply tear off the box top or soup label of specially marked products
and send them in with your child. Older children, offer to help Cindy
glue the labels on the sheets. Thank you, Cindy, for your dedication
to this service!
Please visit the Home &
School Association page for this week's news by clicking
here!
Thank
You! Thank You! When all was counted the total monies collected for
our Haiti Awareness day totaled $ 3,810.39. This money will be divided
between Catholic Charities and the American Red Cross. The generousity
shown was overwhelming and Student Council cannot thank you enough.
Are
you ready to fill up Mr. Glowaty's office for "Souper Sunday"? We
will be collecting soup cans until tomorrow, February 5th. Our goal
is to "fill Mr. Glowaty's office" with canned goods. The cans collected
will be given to Loaves and Fishes. Students, be ready to donate much needed
supplies for Loaves and Fishes. Our goal is to get Mr. Glowaty out
of his office. At this time of the year, Loaves and Fishes is down
in their supplies so this will help out many families in need.
